ABOUT ME
My name is Jocelynn Lathrop and I founded Cypress Landscape & Design, Ltd. in 2006 while attending Penn State. I graduated in 2009 with a degree in both Marketing and Landscape Contracting (Design Option).
Over the years I have been fortunate to work on many impressive homes and gardens, however, Cypress Landscape is not a large company. I thrive on the one-on-one interaction with my clients and also enjoy getting my hands dirty (literally). I love the variety of my day to day work that comes from wearing the many hats it takes to run a small business.
My goal has always been to do great work at a fair and reasonable price.
One of my earliest memories as a little girl was making a new garden bed with my Mom and Grandfather at our home. It was an early spring afternoon and the air was cool but the sun was bright and warm. I remember how the light would reflect off the metal garden fork with every flip of the soil. We were standing in a row turning in black manure and peat into the topsoil. The aroma of fresh spring air whirled to my nose with each blow of the breeze. As our forks turned, the hard red soil transformed to an airy rich brown before my eyes. It was beautiful and...satisfying!
It's been over 35 years since I helped start this garden and I am fortunate that the satisfaction I derive from this work has never diminished. Even if you are not a gardener yourself, there is something about being in a garden that brings out our child-like appreciation and wonder for the little things. That is something I think we could all use a little more of these days!
